According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs , exports of wood chips has steadily increased over the years .
Specifically, in 2010 , the export volume reached 4.13 million tons of wood chips , grossed 459.5 million dollars . Wood chip exports in 2011 reached 5.4 million tons , valued at U.S. $ 703.3 million . In 2012, the number of woodchip exports reached 6.1 million tons , worth U.S. $ 827.6 million . 1-2013 During the quarter , the number of woodchip exports reached 1.6 million tons , grossed 220.1 million dollars .
Mr. Nguyen Ton Quyen , vice president and general secretary of the Association Vietnam Timber and Forest Products ( VIFORES ) , said the association has repeatedly sent a letter to the relevant proposed curb logging small chips to export hash because hardly encountered any tariff barriers .

According to the Pulp and Paper Association , the industry requires about 822 000 tonnes of paper pulp for the production of raw materials , which has over 50 pulp mills to produce 480,000 tons of pulp / year remaining to enter border .
According to Mr. Right , though exports woodchips to help growers selling price is higher but still exports raw materials to low economic efficiency . Therefore, the Ministry of Finance proposed raising the export tax shavings from 0 % to 5 % .
