( Update: 29/11/2013 )

5 years ago, when global food prices surged, Indonesia has launched the national goal of becoming self sufficient and self-supply of soybeans, beef, corn, rice and white sugar in 2014.

However, there are some indications that Indonesia is changing the goals. This may result in soybean import volume of this Southeast Asian nation added 40,000 tons / year . Reuters led the unnamed sources said after a recent closed-door meeting of the Cabinet , said Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has instructed key economic ministers build more realistic goals to meet domestic demand for soybeans and corn .

Due to policy changes that should be able within the next 5 years , the volume of imported soybeans Southeast Asian countries will likely increase by about 40,000 tons / year from 2.1 million tons in 2013-2014 season . That would make the cost of rising global soybean . Indonesia is mainly used as food soy protein substitute for meat products more expensive . T
